At the core of any acoustic room treatment package are sound absorbers and sound diffusers. Sound absorbers do exactly that, absorb sounds that can create unwanted echos within your room. Sound diffusers are used to break up sound that is reflected off the hard surfaces in your home theatre room and can assist the speaker system in creating an exciting surround sound experience.

Have you ever watched a movie but had to turn up the volume to hear the actors speak, only to be shocked at the loundness when the action starts and had to turn it back down again?  This YoYo effect is caused by poor room acoustics.  Because of sound reflections you may hear the sound 3, 4 or even 5 times rather than once.  Sound absorbers and diffusers can fix this and make the dialogue easy to understand.

After we have treated your home cinema for basic sound reflections with absorption and diffusion, we then move onto Bass Traps. In any home theatre, good bass performance is often difficult to achieve.  We regularly use multiple subwoofers in our home theatre designs to help even out the bass response, but then we also add in multiple Bass Traps.  Bass traps are typically placed in areas of high bass pressure, such as the corners of the room.  A well designed Bass Trap converts this high-pressure energy so that it can be absorbed easily and efficiently.  The result for the listener is that the bass will be clean and powerful throughout the low-frequency range and movie action scenes will be felt throughout the room.
